Not sure what the weather looks like where you are, but here in the Midwest we’re enjoying a classic March surprise—snow. It reminded me of a set of images I photographed with Clark & Enersen back in December at the League of Nebraska Municipalities. I’ll admit, as an architectural photographer, shooting in the middle of a Lincoln, Nebraska snowstorm isn’t exactly my first choice. Cold gear, wet lenses, frozen hands and snowflakes freezing my beard. But every once in a while the conditions cooperate just enough to create something special.

And honestly, I do love the results. The snow added a completely different mood to the building—softening the scene and giving it a bit of drama you just don’t get on a perfectly clear day. At the very least, it’s a nice break from the usual blue-sky architectural shot.

I’m curious what you think: do you prefer the images taken during the snowfall, or the ones at dusk after the storm had passed? Both have their own personality, and I can never quite decide which I like more.
